Crochet Ghost 👻 with Heart Sunglasses
By Laurain Crochet, Halloween
A ghost with heart-shaped sunglasses? Yes, please. 👻💕😎
Today we’re going to crochet a super cute ghost, perfect for decorating your room, your couch, or any little corner of your home for Halloween.
And the best part is that you can give it two completely different looks: you can make the classic version with crochet eyes, or turn it into the coolest ghost of Halloween by adding a pair of crochet sunglasses.
Personally, I love the sunglasses version because such a simple detail gives the project so much personality. You can make them pink like mine, black, purple, red, orange, or any color that matches your decor.
This ghost is made with two identical pieces that we will later join together and stuff. It’s a fun and very customizable project, so grab your yarn and let’s get started. 🧶👻

Materials
- White, black, and pink chenille yarn
- 6.5 mm crochet hook
- Stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers, optional
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
- inc: increase
- dec: decrease
Large Ghost Pattern
We’ll start by making the first ghost panel.
- Row 1. 26 ch, 24 sc, 3 sc in the same stitch, 24 sc. (51 sts)
- Row 2. 24 sc, 3 inc, 24 sc. (54 sts)
- Row 3. 24 sc, (1 inc, 1 sc) x 3, 24 sc. (57 sts)
- Row 4. 10 hdc, 14 sc, (1 inc, 2 sc) x 3, 14 sc, 10 hdc. (60 sts)
- Row 5. 11 hdc, 13 sc, (1 inc, 3 sc) x 3, 13 sc, 11 hdc. (63 sts)
- Row 6. 12 hdc, 12 sc, (1 inc, 4 sc) x 3, 12 sc, 12 hdc. (66 sts)
- Row 7. 13 hdc, 11 sc, (1 inc, 5 sc) x 3, 11 sc, 13 hdc. (69 sts)
- Row 8. 5 dc, 9 hdc, 10 sc, (1 inc, 6 sc) x 3, 10 sc, 9 hdc, 5 dc. (72 sts)
- Row 9. 6 dc, 10 hdc, 8 sc, (1 inc, 7 sc) x 3, 8 sc, 10 hdc, 6 dc. (75 sts)
- Row 10. 7 dc, 11 hdc, 6 sc, (1 inc, 8 sc) x 3, 6 sc, 11 hdc, 7 dc. (78 sts)

Bottom of the Ghost
Now we’re going to create the 3 small waves along the bottom edge.
- Wave 1. 2 hdc, 2 dc inc, 2 hdc, 1 sl st.
- Wave 2. Repeat: 2 hdc, 2 dc inc, 2 hdc, 1 sl st.
- Wave 3. Repeat again: 2 hdc, 2 dc inc, 2 hdc. This time, make the sl st into a dc from the last row.
Then:
- Ch 1.
- Work 1 row of sc around the entire piece.
Make a second piece exactly the same.
How to Join the Ghost
Once both pieces are finished, including the row of single crochet around each one, place them on top of each other.
Join both pieces by working 1 row of sc around the outside.
Before completely closing the ghost, add the stuffing. You can add more stuffing if you want it nice and puffy like a pillow, or use a little less if you prefer a flatter finish.
Finish closing, cut the yarn, and weave in the ends.
And now comes the fun part! 👻✨
You can make simple eyes or add sunglasses to give your ghost even more personality.
Option 1: Crochet Eyes 👀

Make two identical pieces.
- Row 1. 5 ch, 3 sc, 3 sc in the same stitch, 2 sc, 1 inc. (10 sts)
- Row 2. 1 inc, 2 sc, 3 inc, 2 sc, 2 inc. (16 sts)
Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Make a second eye and sew both eyes onto the ghost.
Done! You now have the classic version of our little ghost. 👻
Option 2: Crochet Sunglasses 😎💕

Now we’re going to turn it into the coolest ghost of Halloween.
For these sunglasses I used chenille yarn because I love how much the texture stands out against the white body of the ghost. You can make them pink like mine or use your favorite color.
- Row 1. 2 ch, 3 sc. (3 sts)
- Row 2. 1 inc, 1 sc, 1 inc. (5 sts)
- Row 3. 1 inc, 3 sc, 1 inc. (7 sts)
- Row 4. 1 inc, 5 sc, 1 inc. (9 sts)
- Row 5. 9 sc. (9 sts)
- Row 6. 4 sc. (4 sts)
- Row 7. 2 sc dec. (2 sts)
- Row 8. 1 dec. (1 st)
Cut the yarn.
Then:
- Skip 1 stitch from Row 5.
- Rejoin the yarn.
- Repeat Rows 6, 7, and 8 to form the other side.
Make a second identical piece to complete the sunglasses.

Finally, work a row of single crochet around one heart. Chain 2 where the two lenses will connect, then continue working single crochet around the second lens until you reach your starting point.
Sew both pieces onto the ghost and join them in the center. Before finishing, position them carefully to make sure both sides are at the same height.
And that’s it! 👻💗😎
